“Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit and resign yourself to the influence of the earth“
Henry David Thoreau. American Philosopher

At Hwthorn, we craft immersive, atmospheric experiences where every detail is intentional, shaped by beauty, seasonality, and emotion. Our work is rooted in English heritage and the traditions of the table, where objects, rituals, and setting come together to create a sense of quiet belonging.
Founded by Amber Ryder, a multidisciplinary designer and stylist, Hwthorn draws on a background in fashion, costume for film and television, and interior design. Growing up in the Potteries instilled a lifelong appreciation for fine bone china and the English table; from Wedgwood and Spode to heirloom pieces passed through generations. This foundation informs a practice guided by storytelling, texture, and atmosphere, and a deep respect for craft, material culture, and the ways objects reflect landscape, season, and place.
Hwthorn is inspired by English heritage: the creak of an old staircase, mist settling over fields, candlelight glinting across fine china. We design gatherings that feel timeless and considered, where tables are layered with texture, seasonal floristry, and carefully chosen objects to create an experience that is both beautiful and meaningful.
From intimate dinner parties and private shoot lunches to small celebrations and carefully considered micro-weddings within historic settings, each commission is approached with care and intention. While our work is firmly rooted in English tradition, we welcome select opportunities to bring this sensibility to English-style celebrations abroad for clients who share an appreciation for its rituals and meaning.
Hwthorn undertakes a limited number of commissions each year, ensuring every project receives the time, attention, and discretion it deserves.
Every detail is curated to honour beauty, tradition, and atmosphere.
